About David Burgener

Dave Burgener is an educator, facilitator, & academic working in the area of conflict resolution. Originally from Calgary, Canada, David has worked as a lecturer in International Relations (University of Queensland) Sociology and Social Policy (Australian Catholic University), and is currently completing his PhD on ‘dialogue as an approach to resolving conflict’ (UQ). Since moving to Northern NSW Dave has provided training for Local Government and also for community organisations through Social Futures.

He has previously worked as a facilitator for the Peace & Conflict Studies Institute of Australia, has contributed to the Canadian Centre for Teaching Peace, the Conversation Café initiative, and for many years as an elite youth sports coach. In 2012 David graduated with a masters degree in Peace & Conflict Resolution (UQ) completing his thesis on mindfulness as a conflict resolution approach. Since 2011 David has been a practitioner of Marshall Rosenberg’s Non-Violent Communication.
